Jason removes his lips from his lifeless wife. Crying and just about to walk away, he hears a sudden beep from the monitors. Kathryn gives a huge gasp then lies still on the bed once again only this time with a steady heart beat. Doctors and nurses surround Kathryn's bed.
"This is amazing. There is no way she could have recovered."
"Well she did, so let's make sure she is stabilized and we don't lose her again."
Jason cries with happiness. It must have been his last kiss that knocked his wife back into consciousness. The doctors usher him out of the room to the waiting area.

Alvin rushes into the hospital from the parking lot. Running to the information table, he demands where to find the ER and the victims of the shooting at the club. As he enters the ER waiting area, he sees Jason crying in a chair.
"Jason... what happened? Is she alright?"
"Dad, she... she was gone... then came back. She's stable at the moment."

Alvin reminisces about the time he has known Kathryn. The first day he met her, he knew that Kathryn was the right girl for his son. It was the day he and his wife had dropped Jason off at his first day of college. They were moving their first born into his dorm when a curly, blonde-haired young woman came walking down the hall. He saw his sons eyes as the year-older Community Advisor approached. Jason would never go after any other girl.

He brought her home for Thanksgiving that year. Alvin was impressed with her academic and leadership skills and qualities. Again he could tell Kathryn and Jason were meant for each other. When Jason came home that winter break, bad news was spread. He and Kathryn had called it off. "Differences" was the reason; however, over that next year, the two were off an on.

Jason was to stop by home before going anywhere for spring break during his second year. Alvin sensed something different about the two when Jason showed up with Kathryn. Over a divine meal at a fine restaurant, Jason and Kathryn announced their engagement. Alvin and his wife were only slightly shocked at the news. The story of the engagement was shared by Kathryn.

The wedding was one of the most fantastic investments of his fortune. Alvin insisted on having the wedding of his daughter-in-law-to-be's dream. In an exact reproduction of a French chateau built in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the wedding was decorated in white. Kathryn's dress was extravagant but elegant. The grand courtyard was laced in white satin. On the most beautiful day of the year, Alvin watched his son marry the woman of his dreams.

When the two returned from their honeymoon, Alvin had made his decision to ask Kathryn to be the editor in chief of a new magazine that he was funding. With almost no hesitation the deal was made and one of Alvin's most prized workers was hired.

"Jason, she is a fighter. She will be fine."
Alvin comforts his son, as they wait patiently for more news on Kathryn.
